Description

POSITION SUMMARY:  Home health aides ensures quality and safe delivery of home health care services and assist in the provision of patient care that reflects the Agency’s philosophy and standards of health and nursing care of assigned patients.  The Home Health Aides is supervised by the Registered Nurse every 30 days.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experienced in home health care or related health care field.
  2. High School graduate or equivalent.
  3. Demonstrates ability to read, write, and carry out directions.
  4. Possesses maturity and ability to deal effectively with job demands.
  5. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Minimum of 6 months of experience in Home health care.
  7. Possesses Maryland driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  8. Current CPR card/First Aid card
  9. Health clearance/physical within 12 months.
  10. Criminal background clearance.
  11. Reliable transportation.
  12. I-9 Documentation.
  13. Social Security.
  14. W-4 Federal Income Tax forms.
  15. State Tax forms.
  16. TB or Chest X-ray within 12 months.
  17. Hepatitis B series/declination.
  18. At least Two (2) letters of Reference (must be in good standing).

 

DUTIES:

  • Performs simple procedures as an extension of health care services under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Perform personal care activities, including but not limited to:
    1. Bathing
    2. Shampooing
    3. Skincare/nail care
    4. Oral Hygiene
    5. Shaving
    6. Dressing
    7. Meal prep
    8. Light housekeeping
    9. Laundry
  • To ensure the quality and safe delivery of health care services.
  • Follows patient plan of care as written and discussed with the Registered Nurse.

 

 

  • Documentation to reflect the delivery of quality and safe health care services in the home.
  • Identifies and report needs and changes in patient’s condition or treatment.
  • Accurately reports to the Registered Nurse their findings and/’or results in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates the safe use of equipments and supplies effectively and efficiently.
  • Promotes personal safety and a safe environment for the client by observing infection control practices and reporting unsafe situations to the Registered Nurse. 
  • Participates in patient case conferences according to Agency policy and procedure.
  • Participates in education programs.
  • Complies with Agency Policy and Procedure.
  • Must complete at least 12 in-service courses within 12 months
