Job Description- Fingerprint Technician
Position Summary: The Fingerprint Technician will be responsible for fingerprinting prospective applicants, candidates, volunteers and vendors on and off-site. Various off-site locations include colleges, job fairs, summer camps, community based organizations and school bus depots and much more. Off-site work may include evening and weekend hours. The Fingerprint Technician performs routine technical work in obtaining, identifying and maintaining fingerprints.
Reports to: Supervisor/ office administrator
Key Relationships: The Fingerprint Technician will interact with applicants, volunteers, candidates, as well as staff from community-based organizations and external service providers and vendors.
Responsibilities

Performs fingerprinting activities for prospective applicants, candidates and volunteers, as well as vendors.

Conducts preliminary interviews with fingerprint applicants. Follows up with applicants for needed information.

Classifies fingerprints in accordance with established methods and procedures; maintains fingerprint files and records of pertinent identification data; searches fingerprint files for the purpose of comparing fingerprints with any prior impressions on record; maintains records on the number and type of fingerprints taken, filed and searched.

Informs Supervisor of any changes as they pertain to fingerprinting events.

Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of practice as required by the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services
Minimum Requirements:
A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and 5 cumulative years providing fingerprinting services and demographic data collection
